The Lowveld

A region which include the Southern part of the Kruger National Park and towns like Nelspruit, White River, Kaapschehoop, Barberton, Malalane, Marloth Park, Hazyview, Graskop, Sabie, Pilgrim's Rest, Lydenburg, etc. White River and Pelenechi Manor is conveniently situated in the centre of this spectacular region and the ideal place to explore from.

White River

A quaint village with a population of only 5000 people. It is situated in the centre of the Lowveld area and is the perfect base to explore from. All the attractions and adventures are only a small distance from here. Pelenechi Manor is conveniently situated on a quiet country road just 1km on the outskirts of White River. The town has a few historical buildings and parks and has many good restaurants and all modern amenities. Voted as the safest town in South Africa for visitors in 2010.

Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport

The airport is situated on the outskirts of White River. It facilitates daily flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town. 6 Car hire companies have offices at the airport and taxi services are available on request. Pelenechi Manor is conveniently situated only 5km from the airport and offers free transfers to their guests.

Mbombela Stadium

Many large events, as well as national and international rugby and soccer matches are hosted at the Mbombela Stadium, only 26km from Pelenechi Manor. The stadium was built to host the 2010 Soccer World Cup and is considered to be the most beautiful in South Africa.

Nelspruit

Also labeled as a "rural city", this bustling little city is home to just over 40 000 citizens, but is the business centre for a population of 750 000 people which lives in small towns, farms and townships around it. It has all the comforts and modern shopping centres which is expected from a city, including one of the best supermarkets in South Africa. It is the provincial capital of Mpumalanga and houses the provincial government buildings as well as the Mbombela stadium, which hosted 4 matches during the 2010 soccer world cup. White River and Pelenechi Manor is only 26km from Nelspruit.

Kruger National Park

An international icon, established over 100 years ago, larger than some countries and is home to an abundance of African fauna and flora. It can be explored on your own (self drive) on day trips or overnight safaris. Pelenechi Manor is situated only 30km from its entrance gate.

The Big Five

Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Buffalo and Rhino - all can be seen in the Kruger National Park and one is almost guaranteed to see at least 4 of the 5 during a half-day game drive.

Panorama Route

One of the most spectacular scenic routes in the world, including Gods Window, Bourkes Luck Potholes, Three Rondawels, The Pinnicle, Blyde River Canyon and numerous waterfalls.

Jock of the Bushveld

The Lowveld is the birthplace and stomping ground of the fabled "Jock of the Busheveld", created by Percy Fitzpatric. Visit his birthplace, favourite tree and other Jock sites.

Barberton

Many firsts for South Africa happened here during the gold rush, like the first stock exchange. Visit the oldest rock formations in the world, and take a tour to the oldest gold mines in the world. Barberton is also home to the famous writer Bryce Courtney, well known for works like "The Power of One".

Pilgrim's Rest

The entire town is a proclaimed museum, reasonably well-preserved buildings and still operated in their original application.

Adventures

This is the adventure capital for South Africa. A host of soft adventures as well as adrenalin junkie activities are available in the Lowveld, most of them are concentrated around the Hazyview - Graskop area, only 50 - 60 km from White River and Pelenechi Manor.
